💛 A Warm Meal for Sensitive Tummies
If you or your loved one is living with Crohn’s disease, you know how tricky mealtime can be. Some days, even the thought of food feels overwhelming.
But that doesn’t mean you have to give up on taste or comfort. Today, I’m sharing a Crohn’s-friendly sandwich recipe that’s soft, low in fat, and easy to digest — yet still filling and tasty 😊
📝 Ingredients (for 2 servings)
Ingredient | Amount | Digestive Tip |
---|---|---|
Soft sandwich bread (white or soft whole wheat) | 4 slices | Avoid tough or coarse breads |
Skinless chicken breast (steamed or grilled) | 100g | Cook without oil |
Eggs | 2 | Fully hard-boiled |
Ripe banana | 1 | Adds gentle sweetness & moisture |
Unsweetened plain yogurt | 1 tbsp | Great mayo substitute |
Salt | A pinch | Use lightly |
Olive oil (optional) | 1/2 tsp | For lightly coating pan |
🍳 Instructions
- Hard-boil the eggs (about 10 minutes) and chop finely.
- Cook the chicken (steam or pan-grill without oil) and shred.
- In a bowl, mix chicken, egg, yogurt, and a pinch of salt.
- On one slice of bread, layer thin banana slices.
- Spread the chicken-egg mix on the other slice.
- Press both slices together and cut in half — done! 🥪
🌿 Cooking Tips for Crohn’s
- Use minimal or no oil to reduce fat content.
- Replace mayonnaise with plain yogurt for a creamy but lighter texture.
- Want to add veggies? Try soft-cooked zucchini or mashed carrots.
- Lightly warm the bread to make it easier to chew and digest.
❄️ Storage Tips
Type | Method | Note |
---|---|---|
Refrigerator | Store in airtight container; eat within 1 day | Banana may brown slightly |
